Duty:
Operate coal auger drill machinery and monitor/
maintain controls and equipment

Salary Range US: $22,000 to $55,000 or more

Prerequisites:
Education or Training—High school diploma or an
equivalent General Education Diploma (GED) required,
with a strong emphasis on math and science; two-year
graduate degree in drilling, mechanics, or construction
recommended
Experience—Most skills learned on the job
Special Skills and Personality Traits—Traits—Excellent perception
and visualization abilities; good communication
(oral and written) and interpersonal know-how; mechanical
ability; problem solver; reliable computer skills
Special Requirements—Other than a valid driver’s
license, a surface mining certification may be required
