Prerequisites:
Education or Training—High school degree basic
requirement; further training at vocational schools, community
colleges recommended
Experience—From two to four years of apprentice work
background with electrical testing, maintenance, and
repair work usually required
Special Skills and Personality Traits—Excellent communication
skills; good eyesight and color perception;
manual and finger dexterity, reliable eye-hand coordination,
and good balance; problem sensitivity and good
deductive reasoning; thorough knowledge of electrical
equipment, wiring, and electronics
Special Requirements—Certification usually is not necessary,
but may be highly recommended
Tips for Entry :
1. Along with your vocational training in electrical and
electronic equipment, take the extensive mathematics
courses that your career will demand. In addition, be
sure to be fully computer literate.
